Approach & Training
My Therapeutic Approach
My approach to therapy is intersectional, anti-oppressive, and sex-positive. I see you as a whole person, shaped by the systems and environments around you. Our conversations might challenge how you see things. While this can feel uncomfortable at times, I've found it's often where some of the most meaningful growth happens. Think of it as exploring uncharted territory within yourself – exciting, a little scary, but full of opportunity.
As we navigate your thoughts, feelings, and physical experiences, I’ll bring a spacious and candid presence. We’ll likely laugh together; at this absurd world and the ridiculousness of being human.
Theoretical Foundations
My practice is rooted in relational, experiential, and person-centered principles. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, and Polyvagal Theory. These approaches provide pathways to explore how your inner world and relational patterns are interconnected with larger ecological and social systems. Together, they leave space for the whole person.
While these tools help foster insight and lasting change, I also deeply value the simple yet transformative power of the therapeutic relationship itself.
Couples Therapy
For couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) to foster secure, connected relationships. These approaches honor the mind-body connection and go beyond reductive, quick fixes. Through these modalities, we will create space for your relationship to surprise, transform, and deepen in ways that honor your shared journey.
Education & Training
I am a WA state Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LIC # LH61296609). I earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University where my training emphasized a commitment to social justice, advocacy, substance use, and multicultural counseling.
My clinical internship took place at MEND Institute, an organization commited to anti-oppressive and liberatory counseling. While at MEND, I completed a critical social theory curriculum which emphasized the integration of intersectional feminism and social justice into the work of counseling.
